About Jo

Jo, our main guide, is an experienced globetrotter, trained guide, professional member of the Institute of Australian Tourguides and has previously been labelled as a "walking encyclopedia". His main interests are (colonial) history and photography, but he still knows something about flora, fauna and architecture as well.

Lavender Bay Rocks tour

Cross the harbour by ferry and walk back to the city. Learn about colonial history, early industry, sportive achievements and enjoy spectacular harbour views and photo opportunities.

We will explore the Lavender Bay area, Kirribilli and the Harbour Bridge, incl. the Pylon Lookout and its museum with many informative displays and amazing views of the city from the ocean to the Blue Mountains, before we finish on the highest natural point of the City, Observatory Hill. Wear sturdy footwear - NO THONGS! Don't forget water, a hat & sunscreen!

Historic Hyde Park

Hyde Park tour

Discover 19th century Sydney history on a two-hour walk through Hyde Park and along Macquarie St. to the Opera House. Nestled on the Eastern edge of the CBD, the area is rich with beautiful buildings and filled with interesting stories of colonial Sydney.

The tour includes Hyde Park, St. Mary's Cathedral, St. James, Hyde Park Barracks, Rum Hospital, State Library and more. (External viewing and commentary of all buildings only.)

For payments by credit card via PayPal follow the email instructions sent back to you when making a booking. If paying cash, please be at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the tour start.

Booking and payment constitute acceptance of the terms and conditions.

Terms and conditions

  1. All prices are in Australian Dollars and include GST.
  2. Concession entitlements apply to under 18 and over 60 year old participants (photo ID required).
  3. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  4. Customers booking two different tours, receive a 25% discount on the cheaper tour.
  5. Minimum 2, maximum 12 participants per tour.
  6. Tours commence rain, hail or shine. No refund based on bad weather.
  7. JOEYS WALKABOUT reserves the right to change tour itineraries on short notice, if the tour is deemed unsafe due to inclement weather conditions or other factors.
  8. JOEYS WALKABOUT reserves the right to exclude patrons from participation in the tour, if patrons are improperly dressed (eg. thongs or high heels instead of proper walking shoes), are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, behave offensively or are a danger to the safety of themselves, the guide or other participants of the tour.
  9. A customer cancelling a booked tour up to 72 hours prior to tour departure shall receive a refund of 80% of the monies paid. Cancellation up to 24 hours: 50% refund. Cancellation within 24 hours, no show or tour exclusions based on item number 8 above: NO REFUND!
  10. While all reasonable care is taken to ensure the safety of all tour participants, each person is responsible for themselves at all times and participates in the tour at their own risk. JOEYS WALKABOUT does not accept any liability for any loss or injury incurred.

Privacy Policy

  1. Customer's personal data required to enable facilitation of the tour booking process, such as name and email address will be stored on JOEYS WALKABOUT servers for the purpose of conducting the tour and contacting the customer about the booked tour.
  2. Data will not be used for future marketing purposes by JOEYSWALKABOUT unless expressly authorised by the customer.
  3. Data will never be sold or made available to other parties unless required by law.
  4. Payment details will be filed for accounting and taxation purposes.
  5. Credit card details need not be disclosed to JOEYS WALKABOUT, if paying via PayPal.
